Head Down to CVS

I love make-up. I am not in a full face of make-up everyday but I love to try different things. With the exception of my MAC Studio Fix powder I am not really brand loyal. I wear everything from drugstore to speciality brands and I LOVE getting things on sale. CVS is a great place to get make-up on sale and if you are adventurous like me you can try new brands, colors etc. at fraction of the cost when taking advantage of their BOGO specials. On any given week you can find brands BOGO specials on different brands, By One Get One 50% of BOGO FREE! But what really makes my heart race with excitement is when I see that CVS is trying to clear space or get rid of a discontinued product and they are marked with that beautiful little 75% sticker! The downside of that is if it is a product that you love or fall in love with, most likely it is marked at 75% off because the item is being discontinued or the store is making room for new shades of the season.

My haul from yesterday:

3 Loreal HIP shocking shadow pigments (in Unashamed, Visionary and Valiant) Regular Price: $12.99

I really like the HIP shadow pigments. I have purchased them in the past. The colors are so pretty and have great staying power. They are loose pigments and each one comes with it's own little brush. Unfortunately this CVS only had these 3 in stock, I would have purchased more.

1 Black Radiance bronzing pallet Regular Price $4.99

This was 50% off. I have wanted to try bronzer so I thought I would grab something inexpensive and experiment.

1 Revlon 3d Extreme Mascara Regular Price $10.79

I am pretty loyal to the classic Maybelline Greatlash but have been trying a few other brands that promise magnifying and thickening so I thought I would give this a try.

1 Revlon shadow in Gold Sparkle Regular Price $4.99

None of the other colors in this line really grabbed me even though they were going for $1.25. I brought this gold because it has huge flecks of sparkle in it and I thought it would be nice to have one hand for a festive occasion.

Total (including 8% sales tax): $17.05

Total Savings $43.35

My Inspiration

About a month ago I decided to make an inspiration board. My son joined me in the activity and it turned into more of a collage of all the phrases and words and people that sparked inspiration and aspiration. I am calling this 11x17 poster board of magazine clippings my springboard to greatness!

I know it must sound really silly. But as I worked on this "artwork" I couldn't stop. Words and images just jumped from the pages of the magazines that had great meaning to me. Since creating it, I take a look at it every couple of days and choose some phrase or word just sticks out and I try to focus o it for the day (I even have a picture of it on my blackberry). I don't know how well you can see it on the picture but it includes phrases and words like:

  • Spiritual Refreshment

  • Make Your Voice Heard

  • Spend Time on What You Value Most

  • Wisdom

  • Love

  • Serenity

  • Sustain Your Joy

  • A Good Human

  • Faith

  • Expect More

  • Believe

  • Wealthy and Wise

  • Grab Life

I could just go on and on. Of course it also includes photos of 6 inspiring women of talent, grace, style, ambition; CeCe Winans, Desiree Rogers, Madame CJ Walker, Michelle Obama, Rosie the Riveter, and Oprah. This is just one of the tools that will be helping me along in my journey to divine purpose.

Happy New Year!

Welcome

Welcome to my new space on the world wide web! I've been blogging for about 7 years, but I decided to create a new space to match where I am in life now. If you read my old blog Chronicles of Mommyhood http://www.chroniclesofmommyhood.typepad.com , you know that that blog was about well being a mom and the unconventional journey that got me there, and random ramblings of self-evaluation.

I stopped blogging over a year ago, but I haven't lost my love of reading blogs. I follow quite a few different blogs that have inspired me to get back into the swing of things, because I feel I have a lot to share.

A Woman on a Mission will be a space for me to chronicle my journey to discover a more authentic me. My goal is to be effortlessly me. Join me as I share write about the things that I love; my faith, being a wife and mother, fashion, philanthropy, and a good bargain.
Stay tuned.....
